(A Fresher Attack on Comedy and a Funny Tragedy)
Imagine five of Philippines’ promising comic handsome actors—Luis Manzano, Billy Joe Crawford, Marvin Agustin, TJ Durano, and Martin Escudero paired with the hilarious John Lapus in a film that will surely leave any moviegoer and leave them with aching tummies as they all would burst into laughter inside the cinemas via ‘Moron 5 and the Crying Lady’.
Manzano as Albert Macapagal, Crawford as Isaac Estrada, Agustin as Aristotle Ramos, Durano as Mozart Twister Aquino, and Escudero as Michael Angelo Marcos are all dumb buddies who grew together and ended in prison for one alleged crime that they all got involved with as set up by Lapus’s character—Becky Pamintuan.
Every scene in this comedy flick is packed with hilarity and stupidity of the five dumb characters manipulated by the schizophrenic gay vengeful gay lover of Albert. See how the transgender Becky manipulates the lives of these five foolish friends. But, the six main characters never outshone each other, but rather made each moment a comical experience for their audience with their respective brand of comical timing.
Lapus, being the much known senior comedian amongst the six actors, has this to say about the movie, “This is our movie. I always have that mindset that whenever I share the lead with other stars—I make it a point that blend with them and contribute and not compete with my fellow actors.
“Each of the actors is funny in their own ways.”
Despite playing support or sharing the limelight with Manzano, Crawford, Agustin, Durano, and Escudero—he is much a-okay with it and doesn’t mind it at all as long as he and along with his co-stars are able to make their audience have a good laugh and get entertained.
Lapus also takes pride with ‘Moron 5 and the Crying Lady’ because he is able to do all his antics, which he used to do impersonations when he was still joining gay beauty contests back in his early days prior to his entry to showbusiness.
‘Moron 5 and the Crying Lady’ is from the creator of the highest grosser Filipino comedy film of-all-time ‘Praybeyt Benjamin’—Viva Films and is directed by Wenn V. Deramas. This movie is a fresher attack on comedy and showcases a funny tragedy of five obtuse characters. It opened on Saturday, April 7 and still showing in most theaters nationwide.
