The 45-year-old Filipino-Chinese actor, who was born and raised in the Queen City of the South—Cebu City, has remained humble even if he’s enjoying his fluke in Philippine entertainment industry via his latest daytime top-rating teleserye titled ‘Please be Careful with My Heart’ opposite Jodi Sta. Maria.
Yap was asked about his thoughts why their current show clicked with the viewing public. He said, “I think, it’s the honesty and the sincerity of the show that made it sell.”
With his successes, he has a slew of endorsements for Amigo Segurado, Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, Beverly Hills Polo Club Leather Collection, Magnolia Fruit Drink, Chowking and C-lium Fibre. Another question was thrown to him, if what would make him stay in the said industry, apart from the big bucks offered to him.
“I wouldn’t just stay just because of money and fame. I would choose to remain in this industry for self-fulfillment’s sake.”
‘Please be Careful with My Heart’, the ‘kilig-serye’ and has somehow the similarities of the Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes starrer—has changed the daytime viewing of the whole nation since it premiered in July 2012. It also invaded the TFC.TV with 3.2 million page views as of January 2013 and was named as one of the finalists in telenovela category of the prestigious 2013 New York Festivals (NYF) World’s Best Television and Film.
Watch the show everyday, from Mondays through Fridays on ABS-CBN at 11:45am, and on Saturdays rewind for the week’s episodes at 10am.

Summer is fast-approaching, elementary, high school, and college students are all thinking of ways to make their vacation productive and fruitful at the same time. Some would enroll for speech classes, swimming or any other sport-related clinics, arts and crafts.
But there is one way to make summer exciting and fun.
If you envision yourself to performing onstage, there is one theater company, and perhaps, the only company, who offers FREE Summer Workshops and that is Philippine Stagers Foundation.
Anyone ages 8 years to 50 years (as long as you have the passion for theater arts and probably can still deliver the necessary lines, the energy to do dance routines, and the talent in singing and acting), can audition on March 22-23, from 10am to 8pm at PSF’s Home studio, 4/F Vincent 1 Building, 411 Calabash-A Street corner G. Tuazon Street, Balic-Balic, Sampaloc, Metro Manila.
Most of the company’s actors are homegrown talents and are graduates of the summer workshops.
PSF’s artistic director Vince M. Tañada mentioned, “We take pride that every year we get to discover talented young men and women who are passionate about theater.”
Who knows you will be the next stager to make it in one of the biggest productions that this company is mounting for its next season like Cindy Liper, who portrayed Cory Aquino in the award-winning musical ‘Cory ng EDSA’ and Patrick Libao who plays Jose Rizal in its current production ‘JOE: A Filipino Rock’sical’, respectively.
Both ‘Cory ng EDSA’ and ‘JOE: Filipino Rock’sical’ are award-winning musicals recognized both here and internationally. Recently, the latter production was proclaimed ‘Best Filipino Musical’ at the BroadwayWorld.com Philippines 2012 awards.
“This year proves to be a more busy one for us. There’ll be two grand musicals we are mounting and we are looking for individuals who can be part of our shows,” shared Vince M. Tañada.
“Also, PSF is a group, not only limited to mounting shows, but we also reach out and mold our ‘Stagers’ to be better human beings as we use theater to make a ‘difference’ in the lives of the people we provide our brand of entertainment.”
The FREE Workshops will be on March 31 till May 18, 2013.
