Round One has just ended

Instead of 12 artists per coach at the Voice of the Philippines, they chose 13 artists to comprise their respective teams. However, when the battle began on Sunday (the taped episode of ABS-CBN Channel 2’s latest reality singing tilt), I found one judge that I seem not to agree with his decision. I love Lee Grane Maranan, but her performance against her teammate Dan Billano was not impressive to me.

Yes, she may have the potentials, and she has that great voice, but I just didn’t feel her during that singing bout. I felt that the decision to have her stay was quite ‘shady’. I just hope she will step up to next time when she’s placed in a battle, but for sure I won’t be rooting for her.

I do agree with Lea Salonga’s decision to have Mitoy Yonting stay so as with Sarah and Apl’s decisions to have chosen Morisette Amon and Tristhan Perfecto over their opposing team members—Lecelle Trinidad and the Lorenzana Siblings. But, I have to credit Coach Apl to have really been bold enough to choose Perfecto. For me, he was really the fairest that night.

Next battle will occur next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4. To, know more of the said show, visit its website.

  1. I agree, Jude. I was rooting for Lee Grane since the blind auditions, but during the battle rounds, I was feeling sad that she would be eliminated. It was a big surprise that she stayed. Something’s….not right.

    • I found it unfair for Dan who gave it all during the battle. Lee was clearly overpowered by Dan and there was no denying that.

Bamboo has to work hard as well as Lee to prove that the chances they have now is really something worth watching or the show will just be another questionable and biased talent search.
