UPLB Science and Technology Exhibit and Forum
Note: I really do not want to post any PR on my blog, but since I am helping UPLB, so here it is. I did tweak a little the texts.

UPLB to hold Science, Technology Event

PASAY CITY, Philippines – The University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) will hold a Science and Technology exhibit on March 4 and 5 at the SMX Convention Center. The event is dubbed as ‘Making Science Work for Sustainable Development’, which aims to uphold and promote science and technology in the country as well as to showcase some of UPLB’s most innovative and cutting-edge technology.

Part of the exhibit, there will be a forum and expected to attend are Environment and Natural Resources Secretary–Ramon Jesus P. Paje; Agriculture Secretary–Proceso J. Alcala; Science and Technology Secretary–Mario G. Montejo; Energy Secretary–Carlos Jericho L. Petilla; Budget and Management Secretary–Florencio B. Abad; Socio-Economic Planning Secretary– Arsenio M. Balisacan; and Senator Pia S. Cayetano.

Among the UP System constituent universities, UPLB is considered as the preeminent research institution due to the sheer number and diversity of various technology it has developed. Also, it is the home to some of the brightest scientists in the fields of natural sciences, agriculture, forestry, engineering, and environment, respectively.

Aside from the research outputs and technology that UPLB has produced, the exhibit will also present 18 new and existing interdisciplinary studies that focus on the advancement of scientific and technical knowledge. These knowledge are important areas in which the country is facing challenges and problems.

The studies are: Biofuels Research Studies Center/Rural Economic Development Renewable Energy Program; Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Studies Center; Food and Nutrition Security and Safety Studies Center; Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management Center; Agribusiness Center for Entrepreneurship; Bee Program; Computational Interdisciplinary Research Laboratories; Industrial Tree Plantation Center; Instrumentation Development Center; Nanotechnology Program; Natural Products Interdisciplinary Studies Center; National Organic Agriculture Research Development and Extension Center; Philippine Center for Tropical Forest Science; Rice Program; Southern Luzon Studies Center; University Pulse; Agricultural Mechanization Development Program; and the Agricultural Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center.

The exhibit is the prelude to the UPLB’s 105th Foundation Day on March 6 and a venue to recognize the University’s most outstanding personnel for the year 2014.
