Be Possessed with Laughter via ‘Da Possessed’

The long wait is over. After seven years of waiting, Star Cinema and Regal Films reunite the box-office tandem of Vhong Navarro and director Bb. Joyce Bernal via the biggest comedy movie for the entire family this summer—‘Da Possessed’, opening on Saturday, April 19 in cinemas nationwide.

Moviegoers will once again be treated to Bernal’s brand of versatile, crazy roller-coaster ways of storytelling plus the effective portrayal of Navarro’s zero-to-hero comic skills in this latest flick, after their blockbuster team-up in ‘D’Anothers’ (2005) and ‘Agent X44’ (2007), respectively.

Navarro is paired with the It Girl—Solenn Heusseff, who was very vocal about having a crush on the lead actor.

“Vhong is funny, he dances well, and he’s cute,” Solenn listed all Navarro’s traits that attracted her.

During a Bloggers’ Conference, Heusseff added, “Apart from having a crush on Vhong, I accepted the project because of Bb. Joyce Bernal. Doing a horror-comedy is new to me and I’m excited about it.”

Though Solenn’s role was originally offered to Ellen Adarna, writer Ays De Guzman clarified that having the actress fill in the role—it didn’t require him and his co-writers (Athena Aringo-Tengco and Antoinette Jadaone) to make adjustments on the script. He highlighted that Heusseff really fits the bill as Navarro’s sexy boss.

‘Da Possessed’ is about a simpleton Ramon (Navarro) who attempts to venture into landscape art, falls for his sexy boss (Heuseff), but conflicts arise when three spirits (John Lapus, Empy, and Aaliyah Belmoro) possess the lead character.

Also in the 20th anniversary offering of Star Cinema—Smokey Manaloto, Beverly Salviejo, Lito Pimentel, Joy Viado, Matet De Leon, and Joey marquez are part of the wacky cast.
