BUM’s Comikon-Themed Tops coming soon…

Personally, I find the upcoming limited edition tops of BUM dubbed as ‘Comikon’ series very timely and appealing not just to me, but especially to its intended market–the youth.

Wearing BUM's Comikon Collection series are the six youth brand ambassadors--Jane Oineza, Diego Loyzaga, Ella Cruz, Nash Aguas, Miguel Tanfelix, and Bianca Umali. Image courtesy of BUM.

For me, coming up with a collection like this is reflective of what Spanish-Mexican cartoonist and writer, who is best known for his contributions to Mad Magazine and creator of the comic book ‘Groo the Wanderer’–Sergio Aragonés Domenech have once said, “Comics is a great medium to get a lot of stories out.”

When one gets to wear such tops–it will definitely project the kind of animals that the wearer would best identify with because of its ‘positive’ traits and there’s always a story behind the choice.

Soon to be released on October 16, get it from all BUM boutiques nationwide. For updates, LIKE its facebook page.

Sumera is from Paumbong Bulacan; Baron is from Navotas; and Tiel is from Valenzuela.

The search took four weeks to come up with seven finalists who pitted against each other on its last Saturday leg of elimination rounds. It was also the grand search that evening.

Other finalists included Zoran Historia, Rushwell Ras, Jet Candelaria, and Ronald Pastorfide.

The members of the board of judges that evening was composed of Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA-7’s senior vice-president for entertainment TV; Ricky Lo, entertainment columnist and book author; Frederick Peralta, a multi-awarded Filipino international fashion designer; Neil Ryan Sese, a theater-TV-and film actor; Jaime Acosta, president and CEO of Psalmstre Enterprises, Inc. (the maker of New Placenta for Men); Stephanie Ann dela Rosa, career advisor of STI-Quezon City branch; Mary Pauline Danga, owner-CEO of Team Sir George of Mary Pauline Salon; and Maryo J. Delos Reyes, multi-awarded veteran film and TV director, who is also the CEO of Productions56, Inc.

One of the winners, Mark Baron said, “I feel ecstatic and surprised at the same time when my name was called. I really want to join the Masculados.”

The winners received cash prizes and scholarship grants from STI. The three chosen winners will be trained in dance, voice, acting, and personality development in preparation for the Masculados’ concert in November this year.

The search was because one of its members–Lexter Lazaro will be graduating and will soon be elevated to as an honorary member; while its latest addition David Karell has been tapped by Director Romy Suzara to be introduced in his next film titled ‘Sigaw sa Hatinggabi’.

From the three winners, one will be chosen to eventually replace Lazaro’s spot.

The Masculados also performed their single ‘Cam to Cam’ along with Super Sireyna champion Francine Garcia, which also had a sensuously phenomenal MTV presentation directed by Keith Sicat.
