MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Grand Champion – Laarni Lozada is heading the names who will be performing for the launch of the Carmelite album titled ‘Faith: Like and Share’ on Thursday, February 12 at the Institute of Formation and Religious Studies (IFRS), New Manila, Quezon City.
Lozada will be joined by ABS-CBN’s Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 finalist John Cadeliña, a Davao-based band named Skeights, who composed and arranged the album. Along with these two talented Filipino artists, the launch will also feature the first runner-up and fan favorite of The Voice of McDonald’s Worldwide Search international singing competition – Rocky Rosabal. Also to perform are the Fifth Gospel Choir, Rev. Fr. Raul Caga (SVD), and Romel Billena.
‘Faith: Like and Share’ is a manifestation of what Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle’s send-off message to Pope Francis on his recent visit to the country, “Every Filipino wants to go with you – not to Rome – but to the peripheries. We want to go with you to the shanties, to the prison cells, to hospitals, to the world of politics, finance, arts, the sciences, culture, education, and social communication. We will go to those worlds with you to bring the light of Christ.”
The Philippine Province of the Order of Carmelites (OCarm) through the Carmelite Mission Office intends to promote the message of Christ’s love and compassion to the country’s periphery through its album. Proceeds of album sales will support the Carmelite Mission to Papua New Guinea as well as to its many ministries and pastoral programs.
Fr. Gilbert Billena, OCarm, the newly-assigned parish priest of San Isidro Labrador Parish in Bagong Silangan, Quezon City, wrote most of the lyrics, hopes that these songs of love and compassion would inspire many young people to deepen their faith and live the teachings of Christ by spreading the good news through their lives.
Song titles included in the album are ‘Shield Me in Your Love’, ‘Hymn to Mary’, ‘Touch My Heart’, ‘The Love of God’, ‘Compassion’, ‘Inflame My Heart’, and ‘I Need You’. These are mellow and inspirational pieces that many young people could easily identify with. Its carrier single is centered on compassion and was inspired by the message of Pope Francis on ‘mercy and compassion’. It speaks of the life of the poor of Bantayan Island, Cebu who suffered the impact of super typhoon Yolanda and calls for all to lay their lives for others.
