Direk Maryo J, Miggs Cuaderno recognized at 31st Star Awards


MANILA, Philippines – Productions56 managing director, an award-winning international and veteran film and television director—Maryo J. Delos Reyes and child talent—Miggs Cuaderno were both given awards at the recently concluded 31st Star Awards for Movie at the The Theater, Solaire Resort & Casino on Sunday, March 8.

Delos Reyes was honored as Ulirang Alagad Ng Pelikula Sa Likod Ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Awardee, while the Cuaderno, who starred in the independent film titled ‘Asintado’ was recognized as Best Child Performer of the Year, who tied-up with his look-alike child star and son of Kris Aquino—Bimby Yap.

Last year, in December, the film ‘Bamboo Flowers’ directed by Delos Reyes won the Audience Favorite award at the first-ever Silk Road International Film Festival held on October 20-25 in Xi’an City, China’s Shaanxi province.

While Cuaderno also raked awards internationally for his indie films ‘Purok 7’ , ‘Quick Change’, and ‘Children’s Show’, respectively. This year, he was given the Best Actor for his film ‘Quick Change’ at the NCCA 7th Ani ng Dangal and Best Child Performer at the 17th Gawad Pasado Awards for ‘Asintado’.

On television, ‘Direk Maryo J’ is currently directing the recently premiered series titled ‘Pari Koy’ with Dingdong Dantes in the lead role, while Miggs is with another telenovela titled ‘Second Chances’ as Daryl and Benjie.

Hosts for the said momentous awards night attended by celebrities and other personalities in the entertainment circuit were Kim Chui, Iza Calsado, Xian Lim and Pops Fernandez while ‘The Voice PH’ co-host Robi Domingo was the segment host.

The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) with the leadership of Mr. Joe Barrameda, the current president and over-all chairman mounted the said awards, which honors the best Filipino movies of 2014 for the mainstream and indie film categories; and it is a block-time production of Airtime Marketing Incorporated, headed by producer Tess Celestino-Howard, in cooperation.

The awards night will be telecast on Sunday, March 22, on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.
