The 2018 American family and buddy cop film ‘Show Dogs’ directed by Raja Gosnell (of ‘The Smurfs’, ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’, ‘Never Been Kissed’, and ‘Home Alone 3’), recently opened o n Wednesday, May 23 in cinemas nationwide as released locally by Viva International Pictures and MVP Entertainment.
The story centers on Max, a Rottweiler police dog who has to go undercover for a mission against animal traffickers. Even if Max is annoyed with his partner Frank, an accomplished FBI agent who considers this assignment a little bit beneath him—both had no choice but to work together.
Max and Frank set off to Las Vegas for the world’s most exclusive dog show where the former had to pretend as a contestant. Together, they had to retrieve a stolen baby panda and rescue other animals from illegal animal traders with the help of other canines, such as Sprinkles, Philippe, Karma, Dante, and Daisy.
Actor and Grammy Award-winning rap artist Ludacris provided the voice for Max, while comedic actor Will Arnett (of ‘Arrested Development’, ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’, ‘The LEGO Movie’, ‘LEGO Batman’) is Frank. They are joined by the voices of Shaquille O’Neal as Karma; Stanley Tucci (‘Devil Wears Prada’) as Philippe; Alan Cumming as Dante; Gabriel Iglesias as Sprinkles; and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks as Daisy, the love interest of Max. Natasha Lyonne (‘American Pie’) is Mattie, the dog groomer tasked to assisting Frank and Max in order to blend well into the show dog world.
‘Show Dogs’ will reflect what the words of Caroline Knapp, “Before you get a dog, you can’t quite imagine what living with one might be like; afterward, you can’t imagine living any other way.”
