Basketball game ranks number one in the Philippines’ most favorite sports ahead of boxing. Thus, Go For Gold, a sports corporate social responsibility (CSR) project of Powerball Marketing and Logistics Corporation, the licensee of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for Scratch It is campaigning for Guinness World Record Attempt for most people dribbling basketball simultaneously.
Go For Gold will lead the attempt. It will gather over 10,000 individuals from all over the country and will break the previous world record of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). On Sunday, July 21 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, the momentous event will happen.
Also, the program aims to promote nation-building through sports development and creating ways to encourage young individuals to pursue excellence through physical literacy.
In 2010, it was in Rafah, Gaza Strip, Palestine, when 7,556 people assembled and took part in the dribbling activity. They set the world record then. Exactly nine years later, the Philippines will attempt to beat the record.
On June 27, the upcoming event kicked-off with a press launch with Jay Montelibano of Viva Entertainment, John Roa (the singer who sang its theme song), and Jeremy Go the PMLC Vice President for Marketing were in attendance.
On the day of the event, Scratch It ambassadors and Indak lead stars Nadine Lustre and Sam Concepcion will perform live along with some of the country’s hitmakers, such as Karencitta, This Band, ALLMO$T, and John Roa.
