Fabe’s Modeling Workshop equips model aspirants

Though it was a Sunday (November 17) and Fabe Photography Studio is not that huge to hold a bigger audience—it was still jam-packed with young model aspirants for its Modeling Workshop that featured three inspiring speaker-facilitators—CJ Reyes, Reynalyn de Mesa, and Lancer Serrano.

The 30+ attendees had a fill of insightful and practical tips from the three speakers.

Reyes, a 21-year-old, a freelance ramp and commercial model and an advertising graduate from Adamson University, shared usual requirements on what to do before, during and after a go-see. He stressed to the participants that models must have the right attitude of networking with the probable contacts by having such PR skills. Also, in VTR sessions—acting skills would come in handy, too since it requires some ‘internalizations’ and ‘projections’ of certain characters specified by clients.

Despite the many TVCs he has done, he maintains a low profile and is always ready to flash his smile and have that aura of being approachable and friendly. He started as a model for ramp and eventually ventured into doing commercials. For him, doing the latter is more profitable and he considers it an effective tool of giving top-of-mind awareness for the intended market he is trying to reach out.

Meanwhile, the second speaker, also a freelance ramp model, and have been a finalists in several beauty and talent contests—like in Mutya ng Pilipinas, Supermodel Philippines and Project Runway, and a 25-year-old and a graduate of computer science from St. Clare College of Caloocan, made the participants, particularly the female model aspirants experience walking on the catwalk. The studio improvised a ramp for the audience to walk on.

Being both a beauty pageant candidate herself and a professional ramp model, de Mesa was effective in transferring her know-how to her eager audience. She painstakingly guided the female participants on the dos and don’ts in the catwalk.

The last speaker, Lance Serrano is a former freelance model, who now enjoys TV fame as he appears on ABS-CBN 2’s ‘Galema’ and was part of the support cast in ‘Mundo Ma’y Magunaw’ and ‘Angelito’ then in the film ‘Sisterakas’. He has also done about 15 TVCs, which include Jollibee, Master for Men, Wilkins, Chevrolet, Smart, AyalaLand, and Tanduay.

During his talk, he encouraged his audience to finish their studies while pursuing what they love—modelling; so they will have a ‘fall back’. Like him, he is a registered nurse and a graduate from Central Colleges of the Philippines, thus he’s not afraid if he won’t last in the entertainment industry.

The modelling workshop is in preparation for the participants for their upcoming fashion show that will follow on the 26th at Noel Activity Center of World Trade Center, Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenue Extension corner Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay City.
