PEOPLE who have watched and enjoyed the 2002 film titled Maid in Manhattan may likewise be enthralled by ABS-CBN Channel 2’s Please be Careful with My Heart, which stars Richard Yap as Sir Chief, the love interest of Maya, portrayed by Jodi Sta. Maria.

Many say Yap is the Philippines’ answer to Ralph Fiennes who starred in the 2002 movie Maid in Manhattan, which also featured Jennifer Lopez. Is Yap anywhere near the status of matinee idol Fiennes?

Perhaps not, but don’t tell that to the Filipino channel viewers – and there are many of them around the world – who simply cannot get enough of Yap. More likely, they are fascinated by his portrayal of Sir Chief.

Richard Yap remains Humble despite His Successes

The 45-year-old Filipino-Chinese actor, who was born and raised in the Queen City of the South—Cebu City, has remained humble even if he’s enjoying his fluke in Philippine entertainment industry via his latest daytime top-rating teleserye titled ‘Please be Careful with My Heart’ opposite Jodi Sta. Maria.

In a press conference held at ABS-CBN on Monday evening, February 25, along with his leading lady, the two actresses who played the domestic helps, and the child star as his youngest daughter in the soap were all present to celebrate with the press for their seven-month soap’s success. During the said gathering, the network has partnered with the TFC community subscribers abroad to tour the cast members to Middle East in March, USA and Canada in May, Europe in August, and in Japan in November.

Yap was asked about his thoughts why their current show clicked with the viewing public. He said, “I think, it’s the honesty and the sincerity of the show that made it sell.”

With his successes, he has a slew of endorsements for Amigo Segurado, Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, Beverly Hills Polo Club Leather Collection, Magnolia Fruit Drink, Chowking and C-lium Fibre. Another question was thrown to him, if what would make him stay in the said industry, apart from the big bucks offered to him.

“I wouldn’t just stay just because of money and fame. I would choose to remain in this industry for self-fulfillment’s sake.”

‘Please be Careful with My Heart’, the ‘kilig-serye’ and has somehow the similarities of the Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes starrer—has changed the daytime viewing of the whole nation since it premiered in July 2012. It also invaded the TFC.TV with 3.2 million page views as of January 2013 and was named as one of the finalists in telenovela category of the prestigious 2013 New York Festivals (NYF) World’s Best Television and Film.

Watch the show everyday, from Mondays through Fridays on ABS-CBN at 11:45am, and on Saturdays rewind for the week’s episodes at 10am.
